Community Area Plan

The Community Area Plan was published by the Marlborough Community Area Strategic Partnership (MCASP) in 2004. It followed a series of consultation events, research and investigation with local groups, people and representatives of public, voluntary and private sector organisations and businesses throughout the whole Marlborough Community Area.

The Plan covers the period from 2004 to 2012 and includes a wide variety of target areas and issues:

  • The Economy

  • Education and Life-long Learning

  • Crime and Community Safety

  • The Environment - Land Based/Countryside Issues

  • Transport

  • Social Care/Health

  • Housing and the Built Environment

  • Recreation, Culture and Leisure

The Vision is for "A safe and vibrant community benefiting from high standards of housing, health, education and culture in the context of a growing economy in the area as a whole. Improved delivery of services to the population of the Marlborough Community Area making the most effective use of available resources."

MADT through its Board and Membership has worked to support the Community Plan through its own Action Plan which highlights certain areas relating to the economy, the environment, culture, tourism and others and sets out ways in which we can achieve the objectives.

Following the establishment of the new Single Council for Wiltshire two new organisations have been created, the Marlborough Area Board (MAB) and the Marlborough and Villages Community Area Partnership (MAVCAP). One of MAVCAP's key tasks is to "prepare and actively maintain a robust and influential Community Area Plan that covers Marlborough and the Villages". MADT looks forward to a mutually beneficial and productive working relationship with the new organisations for the good of the entire Community Area.
